Healthcare Analytics

Modernizing Medicare to provide better care and smarter spending

Overview

About the project

The Healthcare Industry wanted to build an online platform for physicians & healthcare advisors to report & track performance efficiently thereby decreasing administrative burdens.

My Role:

User Research, Interaction, Data Visualization, Power Bi

Duration:

Jun 2020 - Dec 2020

In 2017, 73% of hospitals were penalized by the govt. due to their inability to report data

about the quality of service provided to the patients. Tracking this data can prevent

penalties and ensure that better care is provided.

Create a performance data reporting system to reduce the

overall administrative burdens for physicians and advisors

The Challenge

I collaborated with the researchers and domain experts in the team to understand our core users, their environment, and majors tasks to accomplish. We interviewed few participants and gathered data on their current workflow and major challenges. This data helped us in finding opportunites to solve the problems.

  1. Performance Scorecard and KPI Monitoring :

To create a comprehensive performance scorecard that tracks key performance indicators (KPIs) related to patient care, physician performance, and healthcare facility operations.

2. Financial Analysis and Cost Management :

To analyze healthcare expenditures, revenue streams, and cost drivers associated with patient care and administrative operations.

  1. Patient Segmentation and Population Health Management:

Create dynamic patient cohorts and population health dashboards to monitor health outcomes, disease prevalence, and healthcare disparities across different patient groups.

  1. Operational Efficiency and Resource Optimization:

Implement operational dashboards in Power BI to monitor resource utilization, patient flow, and healthcare facility capacity in real-time.

The users of this tool are Healtcare Advisors. It acts as an internal consultant and resource to a health organization with the goal of driving improvement in quality, cost efficiency and patient satisfaction. They gather, compile and analyze clinical reports, identify gaps / strengths & make appropriate

recommendations for corrective actions.

Who are the users?

Target Audience

Users mainly use MS Excel

spreadsheets to enter data

& frequently edit values in

the tables to compare their

scores.

Users want to see the results

in a concise and visual

format which is easy to

understand, share with

stakeholders.

QIAs' want to quickly find

and organize relevant data

and practises from several

others in the list.

Due to the complexity of

calculations they often fail to

complete & deliver

meaningful analytics on time.

MIPSight Web App

MIPSight Web App

A customizable web-based application which can record data, generate scorecard and conduct what-if analysis to save time and provide meaningful insights.

1. Financial Dashboard

A Financial dashboard shows all the important data related to patients expenditure on basis of the treatment and diseases. Admin users can quickly view, edit and compare financials from different reports.

2. Manage Doctors Reports

All the reports are saved and organized
automatically by the date created. Doctors
can search sort and filter the reports based
on their date, score and by own name

3. View Report

In these individual reports, users can add,

edit, search, and import data in the tables.

They can also generate scorecards of the

reports in real time.

3. View Report

In these individual reports, patients data can be import and edit and can see the difference. They can also update based on health insured and non insured treatment

4. Scorecard

A scorecard visualizes the report to show

meaningful insights such as indivual

performance, top providers, and overall

score which can be downloaded anytime by

the administrators.

Conclusion

Overall Impact

The web app is currently used by Health Advisors to guide 15,000+ clinicians across

universities, health systems and independent provider-practices in major of the domestic states

This tool is helping healthcare institutions to save thousands of dollar and increasing the quality of patient care by

incentivising the performance of physicians, providers etc.
